Coach Kyle Levasseur
Coach Kyle Levasseur enters his second season as head coach of the Eagles Rays.
Kyle grew up in Kobe, Japan, where his father was a basketball coach. Kyle played AAU basketball competitively from ages 9-16, after his family relocated from Japan to Ft. Myers, Florida, after the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995. Kyle was a 4-year high school varsity basketball player and 3-year starter at point guard, culminating in a prep year at Culver Military Academy in Northwest Indiana. Kyle had offers at New College of Florida (NAIA) and several NESCAC (D3) schools in New England, but ultimately chose the University of Michigan for academics.
Professionally, Kyle has been a high school basketball assistant in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade County, at Jupiter High School and John F Ferguson High School, respectively. Coach Kyle has also been made an impact in the youth communities of Boca and Parkland, where he has more than 1500 sessions of youth basketball training experience working as a shooting coach with players of all ages.
In 2023, Kyle was selected as one of 125 students to attend the NBA Summer League, where he was part of Sports Business Classroom’s weeklong immersive experience, studying scouting, video, and analytics from NBA scouts, NBA general managers, and former NBA players/coaches.
In 2024, Coach Kyle started his college coaching career as a volunteer assistant with the Eagle Rays. Later that year, he was promoted to head coach after the position became open.
Coach Kyle strives to build a culture of excellence at UIC. Coach Kyle loves the diversity and all of the different countries represented at the school. Kyle aspires to build UIC into a winning, competitive program at the USCAA level. He hopes to bring his core values of faith, respect, camaraderie, and ambition to the Eagle Rays. Coach Kyle wants every UIC player to have a great experience as an Eagle Ray.
